A double natural phenomenon awaits us!
On August 12, 2026, we will witness an extraordinary celestial spectacleโright above the Blenio Valley:
โ๏ธ๐ Partial solar eclipse (evening)
Starting around 7:00 p.m., the Moon will cover up to 91% of the Sun. The peak will be around 8:15 p.m. โ a rare experience!
โ ๏ธ Important: Never look directly at the Sun without special solar eclipse glasses!
๐ Perseids โ Night of Shooting Stars (Night)
The Perseids will reach their peak that same night: up to 100 shooting stars per hour! Thanks to the new moon, the sky will be especially darkโideal conditions.
๐ Best viewing time: From midnight until dawn.
๐ Tips for stargazing from the Blenio Valley
- Solar eclipse: Look toward the west-northwestโfind an elevated spot with an unobstructed view of the horizon, as the Sun will be low in the sky and will set during the eclipse.
- Shooting stars: The fewer light sources nearby, the better. Higher points in the valley or alpine meadows often offer good conditions.
- Possible locations: Elevated vantage points above Acquarossa, meadows away from streetlights, or higher-altitude alpine pastures in the valley may be well-suited.
Note: We cannot guarantee visibilityโthe weather and your exact location play a major role. It's best to check the weather forecast at the last minute!
๐๏ธ Extend your stay!
Combine this celestial spectacle with a stay with us. Set up your camping chairs, look upโand enjoy natureโs show.
We look forward to seeing you!
